BELLVER CASTLE / 8th April
Angel Sunday is every year on the Sunday after Easter Sunday at the Bellver Castle, one of the most emblematic Gothic monuments of the city. This day is identified with the feast of the Holy Custodian of Palma since 1407. The name Pancaritat comes from bread for charity, this is an old tradition where the people gave bread to pour family living in Palma. On this day will people share and eat their last dishes that where made for Easter with songs, dancing and traditional human towers.

Easter week in Palma is full of traditional rituals and processions to mark the Passion of Christ and his Resurrection. This week celebrates the last week of Jesus´ life before being crucified and rose again from the dead. In front of the Sant Francesc Hotel you can enjoy one of the most spectacular processions, the ¨Processó del Sant Enterrament”. On the Thursday before Easter is the biggest procession followed by solemn parades through the street at night. The whole week includes different types of processions and concerts in churches.

Mallorca is a beautiful island with a lot of nature. In the northwest coast you will find the Tramuntana mountain that in 2011 is declared as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in the cultural landscape category. If you rent a car for one day on the island you can pass by all beautiful places. Start the journey in Valldemossa and continue to Deià and Sóller. It is also possible to go by tram, train or boat and discover all the different sights.

Many photographers and painters come during these months to Majorca to see the beautiful trees. They grow all over the island, but there are two areas where you can see them the best; the mountain of the Sierra de Tramuntana and the central western area. The trees are not only beautiful, they are also used for the Mallorcan gastronomy and in perfume shops. Currently there are about 4 million almond trees on the island and it’s nice to see in the winter of Majorca recommended by Sant Francesc Hotel!

Every Sunday you can visit the City Hall of Palma . This building was built between 1649 and 1680 and has one of the most beautiful façades from Spain. With the changes in the government in the 18th century, the council of Palma inherited the building and the furnishing of the former University of the Kingdom. The City Hall is only five minutes walking from the Hotel Sant Francesc and in the middle of the Plaza de Cort.

Only 8 minutes walking from the Sant Francesc Hotel is the Teatre Principal. This theater opened in 1667 and has a lot of different styles, so it is accessible for everyone! On the 6th January there is a Rock Concert from the L.A. & Friends. In February is a modern flamenco show from Rosalia & Raül Refree, this young duo has become a benchmark for the forefront of flamenco. In March is the Opera show ‘Le Nozze di Figaro’ from Mozart!
